Device requirements
iPhone
MotionRise is designed for iPhone in portrait orientation.
iOS 18 or later
AlarmKit is used when available, with notifications as the fallback.
Front or back camera
A physical device is required for camera-verified movement. You can flip cameras during setup.
Clear movement area
Use a well-lit space where your full body can remain visible.
First setup
- Open MotionRise and review the Sunrise Starter ritual.
- Tap Enable Alarm and allow the requested notification or alarm access.
- Tap Start Ritual and allow camera access.
- Place the iPhone securely so your full body is visible, then follow the movement prompts.
Troubleshooting
The camera does not start
Open iPhone Settings, find MotionRise, and enable Camera access. Return to the app and start the ritual again. You can also use the accessible fallback when camera verification is unavailable.
The app cannot recognize a movement
Move into brighter, even lighting; keep your entire body in frame; avoid loose obstructions; and give the camera a clear view of your arms and legs.
The alarm or notification did not appear
Confirm MotionRise notifications are enabled in Settings. Check Focus and notification-delivery settings. Reopen MotionRise and enable the ritual alarm again if authorization or system settings changed.
My recent movement is missing
History is stored in the app after a ritual completes and may synchronize through your private iCloud database. MotionRise has no developer-operated recovery server. Confirm that the device is signed in to the expected iCloud account and allow synchronization time before deleting or reinstalling the app.
Contact support
Open a ticket in github.com/ck4957/motion-rise/issues for setup help, a reproducible bug, or an accessibility barrier. Include the iOS version, device model, app version/build, screen, and steps to reproduce. Do not post camera frames, profile photos, precise locations, Apple identifiers, or other private information in a public issue.
